As Stu Rickerson announced at out Class Meeting at our 25th Reunion in 1996, about 4 dozen classmates contributed in 1991 to start the Save the Wild Life Fund. These advance registrations payments were conservatively invested and provided the Class with resources to make deposits on the uniforms, the entertainment and the other supplies that must be paid long before registration checks normally begin to flow in. Moreover, the yield was used to defray some of the costs of –- and reduce the fees charged at -- off-years Reunions, class receptions and dinners and other events.
Before Ed Milne died, he talked with Stu about perpetuating this fund -- STWLF! -- in hope that those purposes could be expanded to provide "scholarships" for classmates to return to Princeton for Reunions or other class activities and perhaps some day even provide substantial support for the 1971 events in the future. The class officers approved this idea and the Save the Wild Life Fund will continue as a lasting memory to Ed’s contribution to the Class of 1971.
Even though you’ve been asked to give to the University and the 1971 Foundation, and especially if you enjoyed yourself at Reunions this year or the past, we hope you will send in something to help get us started. Whether you check is small or large your support is greatly appreciated.
